It’s interesting how the back pages of newspapers are the ones filled with stories about healthy competition, hard work and sheer determination and will power, all utilized in the realm of sports. Cheating is highly frowned upon in the sports world, and any suspicion of cheating, for example through doping or match fixing, is dealt with severely.
On the flipside, the front pages are typically full of sensationalism. In the Kenyan context, political matters typically dominate the front pages. And don’t we all know that politics is full of lies, machinations, back stabbing, and general ill-will. Yet we entertain all these and are gleeful to see our favorite (or despised) politician (they are hardly leaders, seeing as they are largely in it for themselves) featured on the front page.
Nothing more to say on that.
