I’ve wanted to have a blog for quite a while…years actually. I’m comfortable writing, and can best express my thoughts and ideas via written material.
2021 is the year though that I started this blog. Despite having ready content for the blog since back in 2018.
What stopped me was the desire for my own website. I thought it would look more professional if I had my own website, with a “.co.ke” domain. Let people see the seriousness with which you’re doing this Shem. Spare the people the ads I thought.
Well, I did get my own site in 2019. 67yearaffair.co.ke. Paid KSH 4000 ($40) for the domain plus a year’s worth of hosting.
And what did I do? Nothing. Never posted. Actually, I did post…once.
Now two years later I’m quite comfortable with a free WordPress blog, and a free Anchor podcast. With no podcasting equipment…just my laptop. Okay, if you want to go there, then a laptop is more or less equipment used for podcasting. However, I’m referring to the sort of equipment people purchase to enhance their podcasts e.g. microphones and such.
Anyway, I was approaching the issue from the wrong end. There was, and is, nothing professional about this blog. It’s very personal and informal. If you’ve been to the About page, I state that this is merely a diary – a diary of the thoughts that whirl about in my head from moment to moment, day to day.
I limited myself to the “without money I can’t do this” mentality. Yes you can.
Yes we can…do anything we set our minds to.
